What to use for Natural Food Colourings
Don’t you just love those rainbow sprinkles or coloured cakes? Sadly, most of them are loaded with artificial colours that I fear even touching them. However, I just discovered that there are foods that can be used for natural food colourings.
(Wouldn’t you want to eat this cake, knowing all the ingredients were natural?)
Yellow
Turmeric, saffron flowers, lemon zest, pineapples
Pink
Beetroot mixed with white, raspberries mixed with white, cherries.
Green
Matcha powder, spirulina powder, avocados, spinach, kale, Dracaena angustifolia
Purple
Cooked blueberries mixed with something white or pink, Boiled red cabbage, purple sweet potatoes.
Orange
Carrots, oranges
Red
Red beet juice
Blue
Red cabbage juice with baking soda, blueberries, blue corn, cornflowers, butterfly blue pea, borage.
Brown
Cocoa powder, carob powder
